Continually successful Caribbean Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange opened [Aug 14] in Jamaica

Questex Travel Group opened its seventh annual Caribbean Meeting and Incentive Travel Exchange (CMITE) [Aug 14] at the fabulous Hyatt Zilara/Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall in beautiful Montego Bay, Jamaica.

CMITE, held in partnership with SITE, the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence, brings fully hosted North American meeting planners and incentive buyers together with Caribbean suppliers for two and a half days of exclusive networking opportunities and prescheduled one-to-one meetings in private rooms.

The host country for the inaugural CMITE event back in 2010, and a regular supplier attendee over the years of subsequent events, the Jamaica Tourist Board is well-acquainted with the value the event brings to the region and was keen to host again this season.

“We’ve been a partner with Questex for many years and are very excited about the new possibilities CMITE will bring to Jamaica for MICE business,” said John Woolcock, groups & conventions manager for the Jamaica Tourist Board. “They bring with them a highly qualified audience of planners who will experience many of the incentive opportunities Jamaica has to offer, as well as a visit to the new, state-of-the-art Montego Bay Convention Center. It’s a win-win for us all.”

The event kicked off Sunday evening with a Jamaica-style beach party on Hyatt Zilara Beach complete with live reggae music, a plethora of Jamaican delicacies, and of course dancing.

CMITE officially opened this morning as guests were treated to a lavish breakfast before heading off to their private, one-to-one appointments. The day will close out with a tour of the Montego Bay Convention Center and a James Bond-themed networking reception and mixology contest that will take place at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa.

The event brings together prequalified, top-producing buyers and global suppliers for prearranged meetings, high-caliber networking, and educational opportunities. Suppliers will include cruise lines, tour operators, destination management companies and sought-after incentive destinations across the globe, including hotels, resorts and spas. Buyers represent key incentive purchasing sectors including corporate incentive buyers and incentive companies, and meeting planners.

Sponsors include Jamaica Tourist Board, Aruba Convention Bureau, Breathless Montego Bay Resort & Spa, Club Mobay, Delta Air Lines, Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa, Hyatt Zilara & Hyatt Ziva Brands, Island Routes, Jamaica Tours Ltd., Maui Jim Sunglasses, Melia Hotels International, Palace Resorts, Playa Hotels & Resorts, Private Jet Services, and Society for Incentive Travel Excellence.

Questex’s Global Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchanges (GMITE) events have proven to be successful by offering one-to-one meetings and top-of-the-line training and networking opportunities for meeting and event-planning professionals, as well as incentive buyers.
