Concert & breakfast for Cayman Islands seniors

DaphneOlder Person’s Month shone a spotlight on music and the spoken word this past weekend, as celebrations continued with a folksong concert and prayer breakfast. .

Over 300 people turned out to the Harquail Theatre, on Friday, 24 October, for an evening that included performances by: Eden Hurlston, Dexter Bodden, McCleary Frederick, Quincy Brown, Cayman Islands Folk Singers and others.

Then on Saturday, 25 October some 175 people, including seniors and children, enjoyed a breakfast buffet at the Marriott Hotel, arranged by the Circle of Love organisation. This event featured a morning of praise and worship, along with musical performances and poems by various seniors.

The final event planned this month is the Seniors’ Bash held on Wednesday 29 October at the Marriott Hotel.

Older Person’s Month is organized by the Department of the Children and Family Services (DCFS). This year’s theme is: Helping Older Persons Excel (HOPE).
