CONCACAF Under-20 Championship Semifinal matches moved to Puebla’s Estadio Cuauhtemoc

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), in coordination with the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), announced today that Friday’s Under-20 Championship semifinal matches in Puebla, Mexico, will now be played at the larger-capacity Estadio Cuauhtemoc.

The move was necessitated to meet the large ticket demand for the United States-Cuba and Mexico-El Salvador semifinal doubleheader on March 1.  These games, originally scheduled to take place at the Estadio Universitario BUAP (capacity: 21,750) will kick off at Estadio Cuauhtemoc as originally planned at 5:00pm and 8:00pm (local time).

Attendances at the competition have been impressive.  A crowd of nearly 40,000 attended last night’s quarterfinal doubleheader that saw Mexico and El Salvador earn tickets to the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be played June 21 – July 13 in Turkey.

The change of venue will not affect the existing emission and distribution of tickets that is currently being made by the Government of Puebla.
