Circle of Love celebrates 10 years of empowering Cayman’s youth

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – Circle of Love Women’s Ministry successfully hosted its highly anticipated 10th Annual Child Month celebration in partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The event, titled “Brunch & Brilliance,” took place on Saturday, 20 May, 2023, at the Grand Cayman Marriott Resort.

The event was a great success with an impressive turnout of students, parents, and community members who came to witness the showcase of talents by students from primary schools across the Cayman Islands. The event’s theme, “investing in our children means investing in our future,” was highlighted throughout the event, with performances by students showcasing their talents in music, dance, and other areas.

One of the many highlights of the event was an energetic dance routine titled “Waka Waka,” performed by students of Lighthouse Primary School. The electrifying performance filled the room with excitement, captivating the audience and leaving them in awe of their remarkable talent.

The goal of the event, according to Event and Marketing Coordinator Shanda Hunter, is to highlight and empower local youth.

“It has been an honor working with Circle of Love over the years and we were extremely excited to celebrate the students and to shower them with prizes and surprises for our 10th Anniversary! It is our hope that the students left the event feeling inspired to reach their full potential and use their talents to make a difference in the world,” Ms. Hunter said.

The event’s keynote speaker, Miss World Cayman Islands, Leanni Tibbetts, delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging students to be open to new opportunities, utilize their village of supporters around them and be willing to take ownership of their future by putting in the work.

The event was free for students and their accompanying teachers, and many parents also attended to show their support. The attendees were treated to a delightful brunch and had the exciting opportunity to win spot prizes. Among the awards, a special family prize was awarded to a family of four from West Bay, and Prospect Primary School was recognized as the school that raised the most funds for “Share the Love Day.” Furthermore, as a cherished memento of the Circle of Love 10th Anniversary, students received a commemorative backpack and water bottle.

This year, a new community partner came on board, the Ministry of Education, enabling the non-profit to broaden the reach and make a greater impact. As a result of this collaboration, students from Creek & Spot Bay Primary School, Cayman Brac were welcomed to attend this event for the first time. The talented students also did a captivating choir ensemble, showcasing their musical abilities and adding an extra touch to the event.

Circle of Love Women’s Ministry extends heartfelt appreciation to their esteemed community partners, including the Ministry of Investment, Innovation & Social Development, Motif Media, Ministry of Education, Burger King Versona Events International, Crighton Properties, Caliente Productions, Mitchell’s Trucking, Southcoast Bar & Grill, and MJ Party Rentals. Their support played a pivotal role in making this event a tremendous success.
