China’s new energy vehicle industry stirs Auto Shangha

Auto Shanghai 2021


Electrification of the Chinese automotive industry is accelerating. From January to March 2021, production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEV) in China reached 533,000 and 515,000 units respectively, an increase of 3.2 times and 2.8 times respectively, compared with the same period last year. Pure electric vehicles make to most part with 455,000 and 433,000 units.

Accordingly, almost every OEM unveiled their new NEVs at Auto Shanghai 2021. Brands such as Tesla, NIO, Li Auto, XPeng, Weltmeister, NETA, SERES, Leapmotor, Ora, ARCFOX and Geometry all presented various types of EVs. Also, many new brands from that field made their debut at this year’s show and are catching the visitors’s attention, including Hengchi, HiPhi, IM, R (of SAIC), Lantu and HYVCAN, to name just a few.

Batteries, electric machines and electronic control are, of course, essential to these new energy vehicles. So, a lot of new Chinese companies from this field are presenting their latest technology and products at Auto Shanghai 2021, including CRRC, SVOLT, FTXT, BYD Batteries, EVE Power, LISHEN Battery, JONHON, etc.
