Child readings kick off Child Month

Child_readings_-_rite_start_0519webTo launch Child Month 2013 “celebrity readings” took place at dozens of pre-schools and primary schools throughout the Cayman Islands this morning (Wednesday, 1 May).

Readers included Community Affairs Minister Dwayne Seymour and Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Director Alicia ‘Jen’ Dixon.

Others represented the Sports Office, Pines Retirement Home, Royal Cayman Islands Police Child_readings__DS_0540webService (RCIPS), Immigration Department, Early Childhood Association, National Drug Council (NDC), International College of the Cayman Islands (ICCI), Government Information Services (GIS), Rotary Sunrise, Lions Club, Cayman Crosstalk and Meals-on-Wheels.

The month-long activities continue this week with a National Day for Teen Pregnancy Awareness, this Friday, 3 May, and a similar initiative at the DCFS Batabano booth, this Saturday, 4 May.

A service of celebration is also set for Elmslie Memorial Church this Sunday morning (5 May).
