Cayman’s heroes receive medals

IMG_0010On Monday (28) the Cayman Islands honoured its heroes in a morning of high pomp and circumstance at Heroes Square in the town centre of George Town.

The start at the earlier hour of 9am instead of the 10am caught a number of persons “on the hop” as people were still taking their places well after the ceremony was underway.

There were lots of people honoured and a number of the honourees were persons who developed Youth Services in the Cayman Islands from teachers and clergy to business people and social workers.

IMG_0009Honoured persons included John Cameron Jackson Doak, Owen Murphy Farrington, and Claira Juanita Range who each received the Certificate and Badge of Honour. Among the persons receiving the Medal of Honour was former CITN/WestStar TV General Manager Mike Martin.

About 50 persons received their well deserved gongs and the ceremony included many uniformed brigades that included IMG_0012the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, HM Prison Officers, The Cadet Corp, Guides, Brownies, Girls Brigade, Fire Officers, and Scouts.
