Cayman – UPDATE: Man charged in relation to Seymour Drive stabbing

Update (30 March):

The man, age 30 of George Town, who was arrested in relation to a serious stabbing incident which took place at the Everglo Bar on 2 January (see below), has now been formally charged with Wounding with Intent. He has been bailed to appear in court on Tuesday, 5 April.


Initial Release (3 January):

Just before midnight yesterday, 2nd January, police were dispatched to a report of a stabbing that took place at the Everglo Bar on Seymour Drive, George Town, where a man was said to have received several stab wounds during an altercation involving another man.

The injured man was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle where he is being treated for what are believed to serious and life-threatening-injuries, but is currently in a stable condition.

A 30-year-old man of George Town has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody pending further investigation.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who was present and may have witnessed the incident, to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222 and to speak with an officer.
