Cayman: Update – Arrests made in relation to Rev. Blackman shooting

A 26-year-old-man of West Bay was arrested today 30 September on suspicion of attempted murder. The arrest was made in relation to an incident that took place on Reverend Blackman Road in West Bay on 10 September (details below).  Following the arrest, police carried out two search operation simultaneously, at addresses that were link to this individual. He remains in police custody pending further investigation.

This is the second arrest that has been made in relation to this incident, as on Tuesday 14 September, police arrested a 20-year-old-man, also of West Bay, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and later bailed.

Initial Release (11 September):

Just after 11pm, 10 September, officers responded to a report of a shooting incident at Reverend Blackman Road in West Bay.

On arriving at the location, a 23 year old man from West Bay had a gunshot wound to his pelvic area.  The victim was transferred by ambulance to George Town hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing. Detectives are appealing to the public for any witnesses with information about this incident to come forward.  Anyone with information is encouraged to call the West Bay Police Station at 345 949-3999.
