Cayman: The PPM admits overspending

The PPM (People’s Progressive Movement) admit breaching the Elections Act, having spent approx. CI$220,00 more money on candidates than is allowed in this years election campaign.
As a result they may have to pay a fine of CI$25,000.
The PPM said that it was “not intentional and they deeply regretted it.”
In total, the PPM spent CI$699,751.02.
Juliana O’Connor-Connolly filed a separate return, in which she estimated the PPM spent $40,000 on her campaign.
This is the first time in an election a party has exceeded the spending limits by this large amount of money.
