Cayman: Second man Arrested in relation to Aggravated Burglary

Update (5 January):

A second man, age 51 of West Bay, has been arrested in relation to the aggravated burglary and wounding incident, which occurred on 31 December at a residence on Flute Lane in West Bay. The man was subsequently granted bail.

The other man, age 24 of West Bay, who was initially arrested in relation to the incident, has also been bailed with conditions pending further investigation.

The matter remains under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to contact the West Bay Police Station at 949-3999.

Initial Release (1 January):

Shortly before midnight, 31 December, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Flute Lane, West Bay. 

On arriving at the scene, it was reported to officers that a dark truck arrived at the residence, where a gathering was taking place. 

A number of persons exited the vehicle wielding machetes and an altercation ensued.

Two persons received serious injuries and one person received minor injuries.  All three persons were transported to the George Town Hospital. 

Police visited the George Town Hospital and whilst there they arrested a 24 year old male, of West Bay, on suspicion of wounding. The suspect was transported to the police detention centre where he remains in custody as investigations continue.
