Be the Voice for the Ocean

Coral health changed substantially in Little Cayman due to the global mass bleaching event and super marine heatwave in 2023. Historically, Little Cayman has served as a beacon of hope within the Caribbean. Yet, coral cover has now dropped to the lowest it has ever been, in the 26 years CCMI has been monitoring the reefs, from 26% in 2023 to 10% in 2024. Click HERE to watch video above |
The ocean can heal itself. But we can no longer ignore the impacts of climate change on planetary health. Through research, active conservation and education and outreach, CCMI strives to find answers to help coral reefs to adapt and acclimatise to the changing climate to safeguard biodiversity for future generations, while educating the next generation of ocean advocates. As individuals, there are many actions we can take to support healthy oceans. But most importantly, focus on your love of the ocean. Take the inspiration from one of the most stunning and precious ecosystems and turn that into stewardship. And help to create a better future for generations to come. Watch the video HERE and add your voice to the conversation in support of a sustainable future for coral reefs. |
CCMI has again been awarded the Candid. Platinum rating (formerly Guidestar), a strong indicator of our professional management practice. |
