Cayman: Opening Hours – Xmas & N.Y.

We’ll be closed half day on Christmas Eve and closed on the observed holidays, December 27 & 28. We will be open for regular hours on December 29 & 30 and closed half day on New Year’s Eve. We will be closed for observed holiday on January 3 and we will reopen for regular hours on January 4.

 

Customs & Boarder Control (CBC)’S Holiday Hours

As the holidays approach, Customs & Border Control Service (CBC) advises the public of their holiday operational department hours for December 2021 and for the beginning of January 2022. 

ImportsFor the holidays, CBC’s imports processing offices are extending their operational hours until 5pm the week of December 13th – 17th.  On Saturday December 18th their offices will be open until 12:00pm.  During the week of December 20th to 24th, the opening hours extend again until 5pm.

In keeping with the public holiday spirit, CBC’s imports processing offices will be closed on Friday December 10th at 12:30pm to facilitate a staff luncheon. The offices are closed on Saturday December 25th, Monday December 27th and Tuesday December 28th.  On Friday December 31st all offices will close at 12:30pm.  Also, offices will remain closed on Saturday January 1st, 2022, and Monday January 3rd, 2022. 

Visa, Extensions, Enforcement and Container InspectionsCBC’s Visas & Extensions counter, Enforcement units and the Freight Security Initiative (FSI) offices will close at 12:30pm on Friday December 10th and resume regular hours on December 13th at 8:30am. Offices will close again at 12:30pm on December 24th and resume regular hours on December 29th.  Offices will then close again at 12:30pm on Friday December 31st and will remain closed until 8:30am on Tuesday January 4, 2022.

CBC officers at the Airport and Seaport, however, will be on call to assist businesses that may need to clear perishable foods or emergency medical supplies over the holiday weekends.

Regulations Change To Impact Liquor License Hours

Liquor License Closing Hours Set to Change Tonight

The Liquor Licensing Board advises liquor licence holders of a retail bar, retail nightclub, restaurant and mobile liquor licences, that a Cabinet Directive set to be published tonight, will require all establishments to adhere to closing hours of 12 a.m., effective immediately until 30 December. Licence holders are also reminded that all sales must cease 10 minutes before closing. This includes events approved prior to the taking effect of the Directive.

 

Island Cleaners Holiday Hours

A Cayman Islands Fire Service Christmas – Sun Dec 19 10:00am – 5pm

 

Members of the community are invited to join the Cayman Islands Fire Service in collaboration with the Cayman Islands Motorcycle Riders Association for the annual Toys 4 Tots Toy Donation.

 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions on mass gatherings, this year’s event will take the form of a Road Show. The event takes place on Sunday, 19 December from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the following locations:

Christmas Greetings from Cayman: Cancelled, Fireworks Green Lighted

 

Grand Cayman, 17 December 2021 – The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture & Heritage has cancelled the seasonal market part of its Christmas Greetings from Cayman’ event on Saturday, 18 December 2021, due to recent developments around public health concerns, but will go ahead with staging the planned fireworks display.

 

The pyrotechnics show for the public has now been rescheduled to begin promptly at 7pm, and will allow for social distancing for those watching on George Town’s waterfront, along Seafarers Way.

 

Commenting on the development, Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture & Heritage, Hon. Bernie Bush said: “Ministry staff put a lot of hard work into organising ‘Christmas Greetings From Cayman’ and we are looking forward to when we will be able to host an event like this in the near future.

 

“We are very encouraged by the response from vendors and the public about hosting the event and would invite them to partner with us in the future.”

Port Authority Holiday Hours Schedule

 

The Port Authority of the Cayman Islands has issued its holiday hours schedule for the rest of the year and for the start of 2022.

 

The details are as below:

 

December 16*, 17*, 20, 21, 22 & 23, 2021 – Extended Holiday hours

 

Billing Office, Cargo Distribution Center and Container Yard will remain open till 6:00pm.  Night operations as normal

 

Saturday, December 18* 2021 – Extended Holiday hours

 

Billing Office, Cargo Distribution Center and Container Yard will remain open till 3:00pm. Night operations as normal

 

*Additional extended hours offered to facilitate closure for Staff Function

 

24 & 31 December 2021 – Billing Office, Cargo Distribution Center and Container Yard will close at 01:00pm. Night operations from 6:00pm – 12:00am

 

25 December 2021 – All areas closed for the Public Holiday

 

26 December 2021 – All areas closed for the Public Holiday. Night operations from 6:00pm – 12:00am

Christmas Greetings from Cayman: Cancelled, Fireworks to Go Ahead

 

Due to the recent increase in public health concerns, The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture & Heritage has decided to cancel the Christmas Market for its Christmas Greetings from Cayman’ scheduled to take place on Saturday, 18 December 2021.

 

Fireworks will still be displayed along Seafarers Way at 7pm for general viewing.
