Cayman: Man from George Town Formally Charged with Burglary and other Offense

Police arrested a 38-year-old man from George Town on Monday, 10 March on suspicion of burglary relative to an incident that occurred on 18 July, 2024, on Eastern Avenue in George Town.
When approached by the officers, the man assaulted the police attempting to arrest him and damaged the police vehicle. Officers also searched his person following his arrest and a quantity of ganja was recovered from him. He was also arrested concerning these incidents committed in the presence of the police.
The arrested man has since been formally charged with Burglary relating to the incident that took place on 18 July 2024. Formal charges were also recommended as follows: two counts of Assaulting Police, Damage to Property and Possession of a Controlled Drug (ganja). These offenses were committed at the time of his arrest on 10 March.
He appeared at court yesterday, 12 March and was remanded in custody, and scheduled to return on 24 March, 2025.
