Cayman: Landfills operations on Discovery Day

Grand Cayman, 12th May, 2022 – The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is advising the public of the early closure of the George Town Landfill operation on Discovery Day.

The George Town Landfill will be closing at 1:00 pm on Monday, 16th May, 2022 and operations will resume the next day. There will not be reception of derelict vehicles or scrap metals for disposal on this date. Meanwhile, hours of operation will remain as usual at both landfills in the sister islands.

Regular garbage collection and recycling operations will be as normal through the Cayman Islands on this public holiday.

Members of the public are also encouraged to use the 24-hour drop-off site at the entrance of the George Town landfill which will remain open to facilitate the disposal of small amounts of waste from residential customers, if necessary.
