Cayman Islands: Update – Wounding Tue Evening, 11 September, on Eastern Avenue

Further to the below, the woman who was injured during the incident was released from hospital on Wednesday, 12 September.

The female youth, age 17 of George Town, who was arrested on Tuesday, 11 September, in relation to the below incident, has now been formally charged with Wounding, Wounding with Intent and Possession of an Offensive Weapon. She appears in court this morning, 14 September.

Just before 7:30PM yesterday evening, 11 September, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre received a report of a stabbing at the Crown Square Plaza on Eastern Avenue.  Two women had been involved in an altercation during which one had been stabbed and sustained a serious injury; she was transported to hospital by private car where she remains in critical but stable condition at this time.

Officers arrested a female youth, age 17, on suspicion of wounding in connection with the incident.  She also sustained minor injuries in the incident for which she received treatment at Cayman Islands Hospital. She is now in police custody.
