Cayman Islands: Water incident – Cemetery Beach West Bay – UPDATED Man named

MAN NAMED – Nov 8 2017 -Police can now confirm the identity of the man who died on Saturday afternoon, 4 November, after experiencing difficulties while snorkeling off Cemetery Beach. He is Rodney Lamb, aged 64, of Colorado in the United States.

The 57 year old male was discharged from hospital this morning.

UPDATE: 8:52PM Sat Nov 4 2017 –

At about 4pm today emergency services received a report of a 64 year old and a 57 year old male encountering swimming difficulties whilst snorkeling off Cemetery Beach, West Bay Road, West Bay.

Fire officers/Police and members of the public assisted with getting both males to shore, CPR was administered and both males were taken to George Town Hospital.

The 64 year old male was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the 57 year old male remains in hospital under observations but his condition is not thought to be life threatening.

Both gentlemen are from the USA visiting the island with their families.

RCIPS Marine Department are continuing with the investigation.

To add, EMT also attended the incident and both males were taken to hospital by ambulance.

 

Emergency services attended a report of two adult males having difficulties in the water at Cemetery Beach in West Bay. Both males believed to be tourists were subsequently taken to the George Town Hospital. One of the males was pronounced dead at the hospital.
