FURTHER UPDATE: The man, age 22 of George Town, who was arrested in connection with a stabbing on 4 May, has been formally charged with Common Assault, Wounding with Intent, Escaping Lawful Custody, and Robbery. He appeared in court yesterday, 8 May, and was remanded into custody pending a further appearance on 17 May.

Update: Male Arrested in Relation to West Bay Aggravated Burglary

A juvenile male, age 16 of West Bay, has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary in relation to an incident on 6 March, where two armed males broke into a West Bay residence (see below release). Officers also discovered a portion of suspected cocaine on his person while conducting the arrest. He was further arrested on suspicion of possession and consumption of cocaine.

He remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Aggravated Burglary in West Bay

Just before 10:30PM on Wednesday 6 March, police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to an address in the Birch Tree Hill area of West Bay, where it was reported that two persons, one armed with an object that appeared to be a handgun and the other a long metal object, entered the residence and demanded money from its occupant. 

A struggle ensued between the victim and one of the perpetrators, at which time the two male perpetrators both fled the location. The victim is understood not to have sustained any serious injuries during the attack.

 There have been no arrests made in this investigation so far.

The matter is under police investigation and anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the West Bay CID at 949-3999

May 5 2019

Update: Second Man Arrested in Connection to Stabbing,

This incident is believed to have taken place just after 7:40PM. The man that’s been placed under arrest is a 52-year-old-man of Bodden Town, who turned himself into the police at the George Town Police Station. 

A  22-year-old-man of George Town was also arrested in connection to this incident. 

Both men are still in police custody. 

The injured parties still remain stable at this time.

Stabbing Incident in George Town, Two Men Injured

Police are currently investigating a stabbing incident that took place on Edward Street in the vicinity of the George Town Library.

Two men were stabbed during an altercation. One of the men were taken to a hospital by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the other turned up at the George Town Police Station, where a second EMS ambulance was dispatched to transport him to a hospital as well.

One man was arrested and is currently in custody pending further enquiries.

Both injured parties are believed to be stable at this time and to have sustained non-life-threatening-injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and provide information regarding the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
