Cayman Islands’ Triple C students rise to the challenge

DSCN0281On Friday, September 26th Triple C Students of all ages (Pre-School to Grade 12) joined together and walked to raise funds for the Ena Merren Memorial Scholarship fund. This is the first year for the in- school walk and the results were amazing. The students were all challenged to have family and friends to sponsor them for the walk but each class was also challenged to walk together as a joint effort to raise funds for this cause. The class with the highest percentage of students walking from Elementary and High School would win a class prize plus a 1st Place trophy to be kept in their homeroom till the following year.

With these two challenges the students came together and raised over $2,000 for the scholarship fund. Ms. Mable Richardson, Principal said, “The parents and the student IMG_0421body of Triple C School are excellent supporters of our school. This was evident in September during our in-school walk whereby the students worked hard to raise funds for the Ena Merren Memorial Scholarship Fund that subsidizes tuition of students who have been in the school for years but due to unforeseen circumstances have experienced an economic shift. Through this fund they are able to fulfill their financial obligations”.

The Ena Merren Memorial Scholarship Fund is named after one of Triple C’s founders, Miss Ena Merren, who assisted students in coming to Triple C School from when they first opened their doors in 1941. The in-school walk is part of a two-day fundraiser with the final event being the annual Ena Merren Memorial 5K Walk/Run.
