The Cayman Islands Skateboard Association thanks to all for your support. It has successfully installed lights and built a skate shop at the Black Pearl Skate Park. The lights has afforded us the opportunity to extended the hours of the park up to 9pm. We have many youngsters who are often left to fend for themselves. This continues to contribute to our ever growing youth at risk issues.

The vision is to transform the park into a youth centre that serves many different activities. Currently, we offer a variety of skate, scooter and BMX activities. We have introduced Chess on Saturday evenings and Basketball, every day.

Thank you all for your support over the last three years of serving our youth. I am humbled by your unwavering support and well wishes.

On February 18 at 4pm, I have asked the Minister of Sports, Mr. Bodden to attend a gathering at the park to thank each of our sponsors and members of the media.

EDITOR:  Black Pearl Skatepark, Grand Cayman Islands. This is the worlds largest outdoor concrete skatepark. It’s size isn’t justified by pictures that can be found online. The locals are awesome, too (having been to Black Pearl personally, I can vouch for them). This park has a lot of cool features, like an over vert half pipe, a half sphere, and a huge, deadly quarterpipe. There is a skull painted the giant quarter pipe, so you know it’s dangerous. There are a few smaller ramps, too, for amateur skaters.  SOURCE: http://www.articlecity.com/articles/recreation_and_sports/article_4034.shtml
