Youth 10 – 17 years of age encouraged to register for four free filmmaking workshops beginning October 10th

GEORGE TOWN, SEPTEMBER 22, 2015 – Young people with a love for storytelling can now register for the Introduction to Filmmaking workshops scheduled for Saturdays in October. The educational sessions have been developed to provide students the necessary tools to bring their stories to life using moving pictures.

unnamedThe Cultural Foundation is encouraging young people to take advantage of the workshops, which will help develop their creativity and give them the basic tools to make short films. A total of 17 children took part in the 2014 introductory workshops, but there is space for up to 25 students. Anyone planning to take part in the Young Image Makers Short Film Competition or any short film competition, will find the sessions very useful as the instructors detail each aspect of pre-production, production and post-production. They will also able to form relationships with other young talent in their age group and seek professional guidance from the instructors after the workshops.

The free filmmaking workshops will be held at Mind’s Eye (Miss Lassie’s) in South Sound on October 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st. Local film professionals including Ben Hudson & Mari Abe (The Cayman Story) and Tony Mark (CayFilm) will alternate workshops over the four Saturdays. For more information, or to register, email [email protected] or call 949-5477. Students may also visit www.artscayman.org/young-image-makers for more information.
