Motor Vehicle Collision at Hurley’s Roundabout Saturday, 10 June

UPDATE: Yesterday afternoon, 12 June, the driver of the white SUV, a 53-year-old man from George Town who is an RCIPS Police Inspector, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.  He is currently on Police Bail.

Further Update: Today, 13 June, the RCIPS police inspector arrested yesterday on suspicion of dangerous driving was suspended from duty.

Just before 4:15PM on Saturday, 10 June, a report was received of a collision at the Hurley’s Roundabout on Crewe Road.  A white Pontiac SUV was reported to have collided into the back of a silver Land Rover.  The driver of the white SUV had left the scene of the accident; the driver and occupants of the silver Land Rover were not injured.

Officers responding to the incident conducted enquiries and determined that the driver of the white SUV is an inspector with the RCIPS.  Officers have made numerous attempts to locate him over the weekend and enquiries are continuing.

Man Arrested in West Bay on Saturday Afternoon for Dangerous Driving

On Saturday 10 June, just after 1:30 pm, armed officers had cause to stop a vehicle that was travelling along North West Point Road in West Bay. The driver failed to respond to police hails to stop. Officers followed the vehicle, which eventually stopped on North West Point Road.

The driver, a 40-year-old man from West Bay, was arrested by the police for various traffic violations, including Dangerous Driving (manner).

The man is currently on police bail and the investigation into this matter continues.
