Cayman Islands’ PSBP Pensioners’ Appreciation event at Pedro

The Public Service Pensions Board (PSPB) is continuing celebrations to mark its 25th anniversary this year with a Pensioners’ Appreciation event at Pedro St. James on Wednesday, 12 April 2017 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The event, in the grounds of the historic great house, is being organised by the Managing Director, Jewel Evans Lindsey, and her team and will feature a host of booths, food stalls, entertainment, prizes and giveaways.
Mrs. Evans Lindsey said, “In organising the event, we are partnering with Government and others to thank our retirees who make up 20% of our membership for their services and contributions over the years.”
“An event such as this is our way of saying thank you to them and to demonstrate our commitment to their cause. Over the years, their contributions to respective governments have been nothing but stellar, it is the least we can do,” she added.
PSPB staff will be on hand to provide information and members will also be able to get free health screening checks courtesy of the Health Services Authority and advice from CINICO. There will also be various outreach programmes present including Meals On Wheels and other community services from the local Seventh-Day Adventist church and the Cayman Islands Lions Food Pantry to name a few. Covered seating is being laid on and the Mosquito Research and Control Unit will be spraying the area a few days prior to ensure that the event is enjoyable
Entertainment during the event will include some local favourites. Musical group Jubilate will perform, as well as students from the John Gray Swing Band. Local artist Nasaria Suckoo Cholette will also give a poetry reading and spot prizes and giveaways will be up for grabs.
Pensioners are expected to enjoy local dishes including Cayman-style beef and cassava dumplings, fish and fritters as well as conch soup. Fruit platters from various supermarkets will be available as well as water and other soft drinks.
Free transportation from all the districts is being laid on for pensioners to and from the event. Please call 917-8851 to confirm your attendance.
A Pensioners’ Appreciation event is also being planned for PSPB seniors in Cayman Brac on Monday, 24 April 2017.
