UPDATED: Cayman Islands police warn females joggers and walkers

Detectives in West Bay are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man who assaulted a female jogger on Tuesday morning. She was reportedly touched on her bottom by a man riding a bicycle.

The police theorize that he may be linked to at least two other assaults of this nature.

After the police issued a warning to females earlier this week, one woman said she had been approached by a man riding a bicycle last November on Rev. Blackman Road. She said she was assaulted in the early hours of the morning while jogging.

He is of dark complexion, slim build, wearing black shorts and is around 5’ 6” to 5’ 8” tall.

On Monday May, 11 another woman reported to detectives that while she was jogging along Conch Point Road she was approached and indecently assaulted by a male riding a bicycle.

Police is asking any person who can identify the male in the above  photographs, or had similar experiences to contact Detective Dave Morrison at the West Bay Police Station on 949 3999 or Cayman Crime Stoppers on 800 8477(TIPS).

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service are issuing a warning to females in the West Bay area during the early mornings. RCIPS have received a complaint of an unwarranted approach to single females that the Police believe is of a sexual motive.

Single females, either exercising, walking, jogging or helpers walking to work in the early hours are subjected to this behaviour. Around 6:50am Tuesday 12 May 2015, a female reported while jogging along Birch Tree Hill Road she was approached by a male who assaulted her indecently from behind, by touching her while riding his bicycle.

The accused is described as of slim built, dark complexion, dressed in dark clothing, and wearing a tam. The bicycle is described as a men`s frame bicycle.

Detective Sergeant Dave Morrison of West Bay – CID is advising females out and about during the early morning hours, should where possible, be accompanied and be aware of their surroundings.’

Anyone who has been approached in such circumstances or anyone with any information is asked to come forward and contact the Police at the West Bay Police Station at 949 3999 or Cayman Crime stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS.
