Cayman Islands Police Seek Witnesses to Assault at Smith Cove on 18 November, Man in Custody

Early Sunday morning, 18 November, officers were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of an assault at Smith Cove. It was reported that a woman and man were at the location when the man became physically aggressive and prevented the woman from leaving. A struggle ensued, during which the woman was struck in the face by the man. Persons at the location came upon the incident and called the police, at which time the suspect left the location in a vehicle. The man, age 31 of George Town was subsequently located and taken into custody on suspicion of assault.

Police are appealing for anyone who was at Smith Cove on the morning of Sunday, 18 November, anytime between the hours of 1:00AM and 4:00AM, who may have witnessed the incident, to come forward. Anyone with any information can contact George Town CID at 949-4222.
