Cayman Islands National Weather Service Radio 107.9 is back in operation

The new 2000 Watt Stereo FM Transmitter compared to the old 1000 Watt Stereo FM Transmitter has allowed us increase transmitting coverage.  Which means every square inch of Grand Cayman will now receive excellent inception, unlike before certain areas of Grand Cayman the signal was very poorly intercepted.

It has been a long wait but it was worth it. The Cayman Islands National Weather Service recently purchased a new 2000 Watt Stereo FM Transmitter. The old Weather Radio transmitter was hit by a lightening almost 2 years ago. Nevertheless, the new transmitter was recently installed and went into testing phase in the past three weeks is now fully operational.

For now the Weather Radio 107.9 FM can only be heard just in and around the Grand Cayman area.

There are future talks of installing another Weather Radio for the Sister Islands.
