Last week (Wednesday 18 March 2015) Cayman Islands new Minister for Community Affairs, Youth & Sports, Hon. Osbourne Bodden spent the day getting to know various departments and agencies now under his leadership effective 1 January 2015.
Minister Bodden toured the Department of Children and Family Services (George Town and West Bay offices), Maple House, Golden Age Home, and the Children and Youth Services (CAYS) Foundation’s Bonaventure Boys Home. Through these visits, Minister Bodden was able to gain a better understanding of each agency’s day-to-day operations, as well as address various concerns expressed.
The Minister personally thanked the staff for their hard work and dedication, despite their limited resources. He also urged them to expect positive changes in the near future.
Further upcoming visits for Minister Bodden, who has retained responsibility for youth and sports, include: Department of Counselling Services, Caribbean Haven, East End Sunrise Cottage, Department of Sports, Youth Services Unit, Cadet Corps and the Frances Bodden Girls Home.
