Man Charged with Attempted Murder to Appear in Court Today, 14 August

Police and other emergency personnel were dispatched to an address on Watler’s Road, George Town, on Friday 11 August, just before 11AM, by the 9-1-1 Communication. An altercation between two men resulted in one of the men receiving serious injuries that were inflicted by the other, using a machete.

The victim in the matter was taken to the Cayman Islands hospital and admitted in intensive care unit for his injuries, which were considered severe. He received lacerations to the head and back. The victim is still in the hospital at this time, however his condition is considered stable.

The suspect, a 19 year-old man of North Side, had left the scene prior to the police arrival, however he was later spoken to by officers and decided to turn himself over to the police. He has since been formally charged for Attempted Murder with an alternative of Assault GBH. He is to appear before the court today Monday 14 August, at 10AM for mention.
