Cayman Islands LIFE (Literacy) to be beneficiary from 100 Women in Hedge Funds

LIFE-Logo100 Women in Hedge Funds (100WHF) Cayman have announce that LIFE (Literacy is for Everyone), a local charity which focuses its efforts on improving literacy in the Cayman Islands, has been designated as the 2015 beneficiary.

100WHF is a global association of more than 13,000 professional women. In the Cayman Islands alone it boasts more than 400 members and says it aligns its yearly objectives to a global theme which rotates on an annual basis to make the greatest impact.

For 2015, 100WHF’s theme will be “celebrating education.” This theme is not only for its membership but is aimed across the whole community.

100-WIHF-Logo-smallChair of the Philanthropy Committee for 100WHF (Cayman), Christina Bodden, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with LIFE this year. We applaud their extraordinary work to ‘raise the bar’ on literacy standards for our youth in these islands. We are committed to this cause and to working closely with LIFE to educate our people and secure our future. Knowledge truly is power and our mission is to make as much of it available to as many as possible.”

Su Mander, LIFE’s Project Administrator, said, “LIFE is very grateful to have been selected by 100WHF (Cayman) as the 2015 Beneficiary. We are committed to making a meaningful and positive difference to advance education in the Cayman Islands, and the partnership with 100WHF (Cayman) will allow us to significantly expand the scope of our literacy programs and initiatives. We are pleased to align our objectives with such an active and powerful organization.”

100WHF (Cayman) will host a couple of events in March. To coincide with Global Literacy Month, it welcomes Joanna Barsh, director emeritus at McKinsey & Co. and author of “Centered Leadership” for a luncheon and leadership workshop. The event on March 12 at the Marriott Resort Grand Cayman is priced at US$125 per head and includes a copy of the book, a three-course networking lunch and the workshop.

On March 14, the second annual Barefoot Beach Gala will be held at Tiki Beach. Tickets are US$185 which includes a complementary cocktail hour, band, dinner and dancing barefoot under the stars. TIME: 6:30pm – 12 mid.
