Update: Charges

The man, age 24 of George Town, who was arrested after a police pursuit on Friday night, 3 August involving the police helicopter, has now been charged as follows:

1. Dangerous driving (manner);
2. Dangerous driving (speed);
3. Possession of ganja;
4. Possession of ganja with intent to supply;
5. Failing to comply with police instructions;
6. Possession of criminal property (cash);
7. Possession of utensil
8. Possession of restricted weapon

The man will appear in court this morning, 6 August.

 

Last night (Aug 3) at around 9 p.m. police received information that a man was in a parking lot on Smith Road behaving suspiciously.

Police responded to the location and when they arrived the man drove out of the parking lot and failed to stop for the police who signaled with lights and sirens.

On assessing that it was safe to do so police followed the man who drove towards the Prospect area all the while light and sirens were used.

While traveling behind the vehicle police noticed that the driver was throwing items outside the vehicle. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the Smith Road area and the man was arrested and his vehicle seized.Guided by the Misuse of Drugs Law, a search was done at the man’s residence and a quantity of ganja and other paraphernalia were recovered.

There were no injuries or damages as a result of this incident. The matter is still under police investigation.
