2014 on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at St. Matthew’s University, West Bay Road, Grand Cayman.

Rev. Guillermo Escalona’s Presentation “Different World Views At The End of Life” will be from 3:45 – 5:15 p.m.

Reverend Guillermo Escalona is the Director of Pastoral Education for Baptist Health South Florida. In this capacity he coordinates and leads courses that integrate spirituality for self care and the care of others for all the clinical disciplines as well as courses that apply the principles of emotional and spiritual intelligence for leadership and personal wellness.

As chair of the Corporate Bereavement Committee he leads an effort that works to secure the provision of emotional, spiritual and educational support to patients, families and staff during the dying process and into the period of bereavement.

Guillermo EscalonaAdditionally, he is a faculty member of the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. An experienced pastor, hospital, hospice and correctional chaplain, he has served as a psychosocial supervisor, as director of pastoral care for a state prison and a community treatment center, and as a senior pastor.

He has been honored as Chaplain of the Year by VITAS Healthcare Corporation, the Florida Baptist Convention and the Minority Chamber of Commerce. The City of Hialeah awarded him commendations for his work on the Mayor’s Ecclesiastical Board, and the Miami-Dade County Mayor’s Office and Commission has likewise honored him for his community service. The City of West Miami affirmed by official proclamation the work of the Coral Villa Christian Academy under his leadership. He leads a popular pastoral care radio program, La Hora Positiva, on a top ten South Florida talk radio station (WWFE 670 AM) broadcasting throughout Florida and the Caribbean and to over 190 nations via the World Wide Web.

As the Community Relations Chair for the Minority Chamber of Commerce, he is a frequent commentator on their weekly TV Show, “Miami Empresarial” on CNN Latino. He also writes for LifeWay Publishers and local newspapers. The focus of his studies, lectures, retreats and conferences is the care and wellness of the whole person (spiritually, physically, socially and psychologically).
