Cayman Islands “Biggie” Rankin passes away – Premier’s statement

prem-McLaughlinStatement on the passing of Mr. Kent Rankin By Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin, MBE, JP, MLA

The Government of the Cayman Islands regrets to learn of the passing of Mr. Kent Rankin. Biggie, as he was known to us, was a giant of a man in business playing a huge role in the Paramount Group of companies, construction and farming in the Cayman Islands.

There are many Caymanians who can credit Mr. Rankin with helping them get their starts in their careers.

He earned the Minister’s Award for the Most Outstanding Farmer and took home trophies as runner-up for Livestock Farmer of the Year for Grand Cayman, Crop Farmer of the Year for Grand Cayman and Champion Exhibitor of Pigs in the 2013 Agriculture Show.

Biggie was a true visionary and a pioneer in our beloved Cayman Islands.

I send my condolences, as well as those of Government, to Mr. Rankin’s family.

May his soul rest in peace.
