Cayman Islands Auditor General attends regional conference in Jamaica

The Auditor General of the Cayman Islands, Alastair Swarbrick, recently attended a meeting of the Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (CAROSAI). The meeting was held in Kingston, Jamaica from May 7 to 9 with the other twenty-one Auditors General and Directors of Audit from the Caribbean Region.

The meeting was held to discuss the development of a high level strategic plan. The heads of their respective national audit offices focused on ways they can better cooperate with each other to improve knowledge sharing and strengthen their capacity to hold governments more accountable for the size and expenditures of their respective public services. The meeting ended with the adoption of the blueprint for the development of the 2012 through 2015 strategic plan for the regional grouping.

The meeting was sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI,) and the United Kingdom National Audit Office (NAO).
