Cayman International School and Sir JAC open the new season

The 2018 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL) regular seasons began this past Saturday with games at various venues across Grand Cayman.

In Group A at the Dart Field, Cayman International School and Sir John A. Cumber Primary opened the new season with three entertaining games.

In the PFL Under 9 division, a determined Cayman International 9White enjoyed a strong first half as they overran a very young Sir John A. Cumber Primary team 4-0 (respect rule enforced). Goals from Colt Higgo (5th minute), Daniel Isabel (8th minute), Rosco Newman (10th minute) and William Capewell (15th minute) were enough to secure the season’s first points for the youngsters from Cayman International School.

It was a very different game in the Under 11 encounter as neither school could find the back of the net resulting in a 0-0 draw. The game itself was entertaining as both schools tried their best to unlock their opponents defences and grab that all important goal. There was some good passing throughout the game and a few excellent chances but both goal keepers were at their best between the posts.

The speed of Sir John A. Cumber’s striker Dreux Myles and the work rate put in by Elijah Membreno caused a few problems for Cayman International 11White, but in the end, the result seemed fair as both schools were deserving of something for their efforts.

In the girl’s game, a Sienna Santiago strike in the 2nd minute and a 16th minute goal by Kaija Danter was enough to secure the three points for Cayman International School against their counterparts from Sir John A. Cumber Primary.

In other CUC PFL Group A games it was St. Ignatius Catholic 2 vs. Savannah Primary 0 (Under 9); St. Ignatius Catholic 5 vs. Savannah Primary 2 (Under 11); and Truth For Youth 0 vs. Cayman Prep 9B 2 (Under 9) .

In Group B games it was Bodden Town Primary 0 vs. Red Bay Primary 2 (Under 9); Bodden Town Primary 0 vs. Red Bay Primary 4 (Respect Rule – Under 11); NorthEast Schools 0 vs. Triple C 4 (Under 9); NorthEast Schools 0 vs. Triple C 1 (Under 11); South Sound Schools 2 vs. Cayman Prep 9A 1 (Under 9); Prospect Primary 1 vs. Cayman Prep 4 (Under 11); and Cayman Brac 0 vs. Cayman International 11Blue 4 (Respect Rule – Under 11).

In other CUC GPFL games it was St. Ignatius Catholic 0 vs. Savannah Primary 4 (Respect Rule) and South Sound Schools 5 vs. Cayman Prep 1 (Respect Rule).

The 2018 CUC PFL and GPFL regular season continues this Saturday, October 13 with games at the Annex Field, Bodden Town Primary, St. Ignatius, Dart Field and the Ronald Forbes Field.
