BACKGROUND:                   There is a long and unbroken tradition in the UK of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations with the lighting of beacons.

In 1977, 2002 & 2012, beacons commemorated the Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilees of The Queen, & in 2016 Her Majesty’s 90th birthday. Now on 2nd June 2022, we will celebrate another unique milestone in our history, Her Majesty The Queen’s 70th year as our Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth – her Platinum Jubilee.

At 2pm on 2nd June, our Caymanian Town Crier will undertake the Proclamation at Heroes Square announcing the Official Beacon Lighting in the Cayman Islands taking place later that evening.
