Cayman: Government Schools reopen today (30)

The Planning Department has provided clearance for all government schools to resume classes today.

The Department of Education Services (DES) confirms that a preliminary walk through of school facilities were conducted by the Facilities Coordinators. Based on agreed protocol between the Public Works Department (PWD), Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) and the Department of Planning, the PWD team conducted additional assessments of all government school facilities today. The Truman Bodden Sports Complex was also assessed by a contracted structural engineering service provider and will be open tomorrow to host SJACPS’ Annual Sports Day. DES has also engaged the services of structural engineers to assess all government schools.

During the scheduled inspection of Savannah Primary by the PWD team, an underground leak in the water pipe system was detected. Efforts are currently underway to identify the location of the leak to allow the necessary repairs to be made at the soonest possible time.
