Cayman: Government Expresses Condolences on passing of Chief Project Manager

On behalf of the Government, Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson, has expressed condolences to the family of the Public Works Department’s (PWD) Chief Project Manager Peter Ranger.

Mr Ranger, a civil engineer, who led the Office that oversees all major Government capital projects passed away unexpectedly this week.

After joining PWD’s Major Projects Office in 2016, he took a lead role on a number of projects expected to facilitate significant improvement in the delivery of public services in the Cayman Islands. Over the years these included the new John Gray High School campus, the renovated Owen Roberts International Airport Terminal, the COVID-19 Emergency Field Hospital at Family Life Centre, and the Court redevelopment project to name a few.

Commenting on Mr Ranger’s passing, the Deputy Governor remarked: “Peter was a consummate professional, who was passionate about his work and the value it could bring to the people of the Cayman Islands. All those who knew him across the civil service keenly feel his loss. Our deepest sympathies go to his wife and sons.”

“Peter was a high performing civil servant within the Public Works Department, and has left a legacy of delivering significant projects that will have a lasting impact on the lives of Caymanians. He will forever be remembered and respected for his contribution to the Cayman Islands Government” said Acting Director of Public Works Troy Whorms.

Mr Whorms added that the Public Works team was committed to continuing to deliver on the priorities of the Government, and by extension the people of the Cayman Islands.

Tamara Ebanks, the Acting Chief Officer in the Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure to which PWD reports, stated: “On behalf of the Ministry staff and our departments I would like to say that it was an honour and a privilege to be able to work alongside Peter. His contributions to the team, to the wider Government and the Cayman Islands will always be valued.”

Describing Mr Ranger as a friend and colleague, Acting Chief Officer for the Ministry of Health and Wellness Nellie Pouchie said he worked tirelessly to fulfill the various projects that he was tasked with.  “He was the epitome of professionalism and his work on the Integrated Solid Waste Management System was phenomenal.  He will be sorely missed by the team”, Ms Pouchie remarked.

Meanwhile Chief Officer in the Ministry of Tourism and Transport Stran Bodden concluded: “Peter was the ultimate professional, and the most hard-working and dedicated person that I know. He had a depth of knowledge of many varied subject areas.  He was personable, humble, and a genuine person, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him around the world.”

  1. Now that many locals are speaking up about their adverse effects of the vaccine, I was wondering if Mr. Ranger had just received the CV-19 vaccine?
Also, what about the guy from Cayman Airways that dropped dead in quarantine?
I am sure there are others. The death rate in Cayman needs to be examined post-vaccine to see if it is higher than previous years.

The reader responses to the recent CNS post were enlightening.

Let us also remember 2 facts regarding Lee. First of all, he lied under oath during the Doctor’s Express trial and seems to have evaded prosecution. Why?

Secondly, Lee is a loose cannon. I have no idea how an anesthetist who was very, very lucky to escape manslaughter charges over the death of a 12 year old boy is now the Chief Medical Officer of the Cayman Islands?

Martyn Roper is fully responsible for this. I happen to know that he called a meeting of the local press and “leaned” on them to be “responsible” in their reporting over COVID especially regarding negativity towards the “vaccine”.

Roper has protected Lee and pushed the vaccination agenda.

Also I know that a lot of people are enjoying having something to do with the Regiment, but it is pretty scary how situations can turn on a dime. What if Roper mandates vaccines for all?

Will he deploy his army, set up roadblocks and go door to door? I know this seems like a stretch, but Roper has allowed corruption to run rampant since he has been here and I would not be surprised by anything he does.

Finally, it would seem that a bunch of concerned expats are picking up on Roper. I am sure you have heard of EPACI?
    See here. https://epaci.ky/can-we-be-clear/

Anyway, I hope your journalistic instincts are piqued by this information and that you will create stories that will benefit, encourage and uplift the people of the Cayman Islands.

    • Thank you for your comments. I personally do not agree with you but I am open to place all opinions, except ones containing flaming and foul language. We did not receive an invitation to any meeting with the Governor on any subject so I cannot reply to that. Dr. Lee is leaving very soon. As far as Mr. Ranger is concerned I did know him. In fact I was sitting next to him only two days before he sadly died. He did not intimate to me if he had received any COVID vaccination. He was a diabetic and had a very stressful job.

      • Note: Just because I sat next to Mr. Ranger two days before he died I do not think that had anything to do with it.

        Dear Peter RIP.
