Week 10…the count down is over! Christmas is just days away, its time to celebrate!

POEM:

Dear Diary

The days/nights have been hot, muggy, and sticky.
We sit on the front porch, talking, looking at stars, making jokes.
Listening, to one another.
While the children are away, we take on another “form”,
We become unwound, relaxed, unhurried, we become friends.

You are not so uptight, and I’m not so impatient.
The clouds, they aren’t moving much, like us.
We are ok being here, on the front porch, moving slow, in time.
Making plans, talking about things that never got mentioned.

I tell you about my day, and you tell me about memories of childhood.
What a long ways we’ve come, sticking it out, loving one another.
Arguments don’t last as long; forgiveness is in our right hand to give.
Jazz music in the back, white wine in the front.

I never make the things you tell me about the past, become the present.
You never make the things I tell you about the past, become the future.
I miss the children; I’m glad to have a break though.
Taking time to talk about where we are; our family, our lives., our needs, wants.

There is so much that we never get time to say because demands of life take centre stage.
This summer, is the best of all. To our friends and family, take time to talk.
