Cayman: First Major AI Seminar to Feature Local and International Expert Speakers

Tamsin Deasey-Weinstein
GRAND CAYMAN, October 13th 2025 — The Cayman Islands Financial Services Institute (FSI) will host its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) seminar on Thursday, 30 October at Hotel Indigo, Grand Cayman from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., bringing together world-class expertise to explore the fast-growing impact of AI on business, government, and society.
The event will feature both international and local leaders in the AI space, offering Cayman’s business and policy community a rare opportunity to learn directly from innovators shaping the future of technology.
The seminar will welcome Joseph Wehbe, Artificial Intelligence Trainer and member of the World Economic Forum’s AI & Entrepreneurship expert network. Wehbe has contributed to global AI talent strategies and is CEO of DAIMLAS, builders of multiple international AI ecosystems, including initiatives in the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria. He holds a master’s degree in AI from the Vector Institute of Excellence in Toronto, where Prof. Geoffrey Hinton, known as the “Godfather of AI,” serves as Chief Scientific Advisor.

“AI is not the future, it is the present and it impacts every part of society, business, and government. Find your swim lane in AI, and learn. Government and academia must create pathways into AI for all who want to participate otherwise many will be excluded from the AI economy.”, said Wehbe.
Joining Wehbe is Tamsin Deasey-Weinstein, Senior Director at the University College of the Cayman Islands, who is at the forefront of shaping Cayman’s AI future. Deasey-Weinstein co-chairs the National AI Education Steering Group and sits on the Council of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce. Her research and workforce strategies, featured in global outlets including Forbes and the BBC World Service, focus on equipping teams with AI skills to drive innovation, workforce agility, and economic resilience.
Through two high-impact presentations; AI in Business & Public Services by Joseph Wehbe and AI & The Workforce of the Future by Tamsin Deasey-Weinstein, the seminar will provide practical insights into how AI is transforming industries from financial services to healthcare, how governments can harness AI for more efficient and responsive service delivery, and what skills Cayman’s professionals need to remain competitive in a rapidly changing global economy.
“AI is already reshaping industries, government services, and workforce needs around the globe,” said an FSI spokesperson. “This seminar will cut through the jargon to give Cayman’s leaders and professionals clear, practical strategies for navigating and leading in this new era.”
The event is designed for a wider audience whether AI expert or new to the topic and it’s expected that business owners, policymakers, and professionals across all sectors who want to understand both the opportunities and challenges of AI in the Cayman context will benefit.
