Cayman Drama Society: Cambridge Tour – A Midsummer Night’s Dream

The Cayman Drama Society (“CDS”) is delighted to announce that they will be hosting the Cambridge University American Stage Tour (“CAST”) for their second visit to the Cayman Islands. CAST was established under the patronage of Dame Judi Dench in 2000 and is one of the major international theatre tours of Cambridge University. It aims to bring the work of Shakespeare to as wide an audience as possible.

This year CAST will be performing Shakespeare’s most popular comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Prospect Playhouse. Evening performances are on Monday 25th September, Wednesday 27th September and Thursday 28th September with a matinee on Tuesday 26th September. For a second year, Walkers Global has generously provided sponsorship to assist with CAST’s visit to Cayman and through this support we have been able to reduce the price of tickets for students to only $5 for the matinee.

A core part of CAST’s aims is to reach out to the wider community, particularly to schools and colleges. This complements CDS’s mission to helping in the education of the performing arts in Cayman. Through CDS, CAST will be running a series of workshops and events at schools and colleges around the Island including Clifton Hunter High School, John Gray High School, Cayman Prep & High School, St Ignatius and UCCI. Youth programmes continue to be a huge part of CDS’s focus with the provision of weekly acting classes, drama camps and youth performances together with fund raising activities to provide funding to students seeking to further their studies of drama and theatre arts.

CAST showcases the leading dramatic talent in Cambridge, including those actors and directors about to enter the world of professional theatre. One of this year’s actors, Benedict Clarke who plays Oberon, has already seen some success appearing as the young Severus Snape in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Tickets for CAST’s must-see production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream are available now at www.cds.ky Performances are at 7.30pm (doors open 6.30pm) on 25th, 27th, 28th September with the matinee performance at 4pm on Tue 26th. Call 938 1998 for more information.

The Producer would like to add acknowledgement and thanks to Margaritaville Beach Resorts for kind sponsorship in assisting in cast and crew accommodation for this production.
