DEH to coordinate acceptance of large vegetation waste

Grand Cayman, March 11, 2022 – Companies or individuals engaged in the transportation of large amounts of vegetation waste such as resulting from land clearance or forestry activities are encouraged to contact the Department of Environmental Health (DEH) to coordinate the acceptance of the material to the George Town landfill.

Members of the public and gardeners can still deposit domestic amounts of vegetation and yard trimmings at the George Town landfill and/or its drop off facility. The drop off remains in operation 24 hours a day for this purpose.

The DEH apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this temporary measure due to the remaining requirement to process vegetation from the Tropical Storm Grace coupled with equipment servicing and repairs. To avoid any unnecessary delays, prior arrangement is required as large loads of vegetation may be refused entry if preparations have not been made.

For additional information, please contact the DEH at 949-6696, email us at [email protected], visit the DEH’s website at www.deh.gov.ky  or message our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Department-of-Environmental-Health-Cayman-Islands-Government-335107266641072.
