Grand Cayman, October 26, 2021 – The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is urging residents to get ready as this year’s Annual Bulk Waste Collection kicks-off next week in the West Bay District.

Bulk Waste Collection in Grand Cayman will take place from Monday to Saturday according to the following schedule:

  • West Bay November 1 – 6
  • George Town November 8 – 13
  • Bodden Town November 15-20
  • North Side / East End November 22-27

Meanwhile, the schedule for the Bulk Waste Collection in the Sister Islands will be announced at a later date.

Residents are reminded to place their bulk waste on the kerbside before their district’s scheduled collection dates, to ensure timely and efficient collections. The bulk waste should be in an area that is easily accessible to DEH collection crews and does not obstruct the roadway. DEH will not collect any items that are put out after scheduled dates.

Bulk waste refers to large items such as old furniture, mattresses, rugs, household appliances, carpeting, scrap metal, vegetative waste and other items that are not collected as part of the DEH’s weekly residential pick-up services.

However, construction and demolition debris, hazardous material, electronics and tyres will not be collected during the bulk waste removal activity. Persons are required to make alternative arrangements to transport these items to the nearest landfill.

The George Town Landfill operates from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and is closed on Sunday. However, the landfill drop-off facility at the gate will remain accessible for the public and small vehicles 24 hours per day.
