Cayman: COVID-19 Update – Thursday, 18 November 2021, 8 a.m., 206 NEW Positives, 106 total cases recorded in Sister Islands, 120,636 vaccinations given

Grand Cayman – At 8 a.m. on Thursday, 18 November Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee reported that 1,357 PCR tests had been conducted since 8 a.m. on Wednesday, 17 November.

The Public Health Department reported 206 positive results from these tests, with one in a traveller and 205 from the community.

These results brought the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the Cayman Islands to 3,673 as at 8 a.m. on Thursday, 18 November. The total number of cases recorded since the start of the pandemic stood at 5,362 as at the same time.

Up to that point, 5,098 people in the Cayman Islands were in isolation either in Government isolation facilities or at home.

The Public Health department also confirmed that up to 8 a.m. on Thursday, 18 November there had been 1,472 total positive lateral flow tests since the introduction of the lateral flow test programme in the Cayman Islands, which are included in the total positive numbers given above.

As of 8 a.m. on Thursday, 18 November, Faith Hospital confirmed there were 52 active cases in the Sister Islands, with one identified in the previous 24 hours.

To date, there had been 106 total cases recorded in the Sister Islands, with 54 having recovered. Out of the total number of cases in the Sister Islands, 55 were fully vaccinated, six were partially vaccinated, and 45 were unvaccinated.

There were 20 COVID-19 patients hospitalised in the Cayman Islands at 8 a.m. on Thursday, 18 November.

Up to 8 a.m. on Thursday, 18 November there had been 120,636 COVID-19 vaccinations given in total in the Cayman Islands. Of these, people 57,558 (81% of 71,106) had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 55,352 individuals (78%) had completed the two-dose course.

Additionally, 8,170 people (representing 11% of the total population) had received a third or booster dose up to that point.
