Cayman: COVID-19 Update – Friday, 26 November 2021, 8 a.m.,139 NEW Positives, 123, 443 vaccinations given

Grand Cayman – At 8 a.m. on Friday, 26 November Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee reported that 991 PCR tests had been conducted since 8 a.m. on Thursday, 25 November.

The Public Health Department reported 139 positive test results during the same period. One of these positives was from a traveller and 138 were from the community.

These results brought the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the Cayman Islands to 4,184 as at 8 a.m. on Friday, 26 November. The total number of cases recorded since the start of the pandemic stood at 6,738 as at the same time. 

There were 25 COVID-19 patients hospitalised in the Cayman Islands at 8 a.m. on Friday, 26 November.

Up to that point, 4,607 people in the Cayman Islands were in isolation either in Government isolation facilities or at home.

The Public Health Department also confirmed that at 8 a.m. on Friday, 26 November there had been 1,762 total positive lateral flow tests since the introduction of the lateral flow test programme in the Cayman Islands. These are included in the total positive numbers given above.

As of 8 a.m. on Friday, 26 November, Faith Hospital confirmed there were 17 active cases in the Sister Islands, with one COVID-positive individuals identified in the previous 24 hours. To date, there had been 116 total cases recorded in the Sister Islands, with 98 having recovered. Out of the total number of cases in the Sister Islands, 59 were fully vaccinated, six were partially vaccinated, and 51 were unvaccinated.

Up to 8 a.m. on Friday, 26 November there had been 123,443 COVID-19 vaccinations given in total in the Cayman Islands.

Of these, 57,952 (82 percent of 71,106) had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Meanwhile 55,829 individuals (79 percent) had completed the two-dose course. Additionally, 10,096 people (representing 14 percent of the total population) had received a third or booster dose up to that point.
