Cayman: COVID-19 Update 3 May 2021, TWO NEW Positives, 67,394 vaccines administered

The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. John Lee, reports that 589 COVID-19 tests have been carried out since this was last reported on Friday, 30 April 2021. Two were positive.

The individuals are travellers who tested positive following routine screening. They will remain in isolation until considered recovered.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered to date is 67,394.

So far, 36,291 (56% of the estimated population of 65,000) have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with 48% having completed the two-dose course.

At last count, the proportions according to age are broken down as follows:
36% of those under 30 have had at least one dose
50% of those 30-40 have had at least one dose
60% of those 40-50 have had at least one dose with an overall rate of 49% for those between 16 and 50 years of age.
83% of those 50-60 have had at least one dose
The large majority of those over 60 have been vaccinated.

“I am really pleased to see how the community has come together to take up the vaccine and continue the fight against the global pandemic. I would like to remind the community that the last scheduled delivery of vaccines expires at the end of June, so your first dose needs to be by 9 June to allow at least 21 days between first and second doses. The Public Health team looks forward to having those who haven’t taken the vaccine yet come forward at this time,” said Chief Medical Officer Dr John Lee.
