Cayman: Community Mask requirements & Cancellations due to COVID-19

Post Offices Close 3.30p.m. Tue 21 Sep

All Post Offices close at 3.30p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, 21 September 2021) to facilitate an urgent staff meeting.  Management also asks customers, when visiting a post office, to wear face masks and sanitise their hands.

Department Health Regulatory Services Encourages Electronic Enquiries

Grand Cayman, 20 September 2021 – The Department of Health Regulatory Services has closed its customer service desk at Government Administration Building, with effect from today (Monday, 20 September 2021).

For applications, complaints and enquiries, including the Premium Payment Assistance Program (PPAP), the Department encourages customers to use electronic mediums such as email and telephone. 

Hard copies of the forms may be placed in the Drop Box at the GAB.

The Department of Commerce and Investment is asking customers to use the online services available at as much as possible, although counters at Government Administration Building will remain open Monday to Friday 9a.m.-4p.m. until further notice.

These online services include trade and business licence grant and renewal applications and trade and business licence amendments.

By encouraging use of online services, and minimising the number of people inside GAB, the Department aims to keep its staff and customers safe, during the current incident involving community spread of the viral illness COVID-19.

DVDL Requires Face Masks at Offices

Grand Cayman – The Department of Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing (DVDL) advises the public that face masks are required at all its office locations, effective Monday, September 20.

Face masks are also required for road tests and vehicle inspections conducted by DVDL personnel.

Customers are reminded that they can renew their vehicle and driver’s licences online via DVDL’s website at

Masks required to be worn in government buildings 

Grand Cayman, 17 September 2021 – As of Monday, 20 September, members of the public must wear face masks inside all government buildings, as the Civil Service increases safety protocols to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

People visiting government buildings are asked to bring their own masks and follow the direction of security officers.

NRA Outlines COVID-19 Prevention Measures

Grand Cayman, 16 September 2021 – The National Roads Authority (NRA) advises the public that, it has enacted its pandemic response plan for COVID-19, following recent news of community spread of the dangerous virus.

NRA Managing Director Edward Howard confirms that the current phase of the plan will include the following:

  • Closure of NRA’s office to the public until further notice
  • Continuation of COVID-19 safety protocols for staff, including: mandating masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE), social distancing, hand washing and sanitising. As a result all employees have been issued masks and hand sanitiser.
  • Continuation of road works, but with a limited number of employees assigned to each site.

As a precautionary measure Deputy Managing Director Julie Campbell adds that NRA has arranged with the Health Services Authority to provide drive- thru COVID-19 testing for all NRA employees every two weeks.

Pines Retirement Home suspends all visitation until further notice

For the safety of our residents and staff, the Pines Retirement Home’s Board of Directors and Management have S (which include residents’ next-of-kin), due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases within our community.

We will inform family members and the general public once visitation is restored.

Public Advisory: Masks Required When Entering RCIPS Buildings


As a precautionary measure, the RCIPS will now be requiring members of the public who will be attending our police stations and public facing offices to wear masks when entering and while inside our facilities. Hand sanitiser will be available at all entrances, and you are being asked to sanitise your hands as you enter.

Let us all do our part in ensuring the prevention and suppression of COVID-19 and work towards “Making the Cayman Islands Safer”.

The Cayman Islands Seafarers Association wishes to inform all Members that there will NOT be a Quarterly Social, on Tuesday 21 September due to the local transmission of Covid-19 as we are adhering to the rule of wearing of masks and small gatherings.”
