Cayman Chamber of Commerce CEO to speak at the 42nd ICCI Commencement

Wil Pineau, CCE(GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS) – Mr. Wil Pineau, The Chief Executive Officer of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce is the commencement speaker for the 42nd Annual Commencement of the International College of the Cayman Islands (ICCI). The ceremony will take place at the Marriott Grand Cayman on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Pineau has served as the CEO of the Chamber since 1994. The Chamber is the largest not-for-profit, membership-based organization in the Cayman Islands.

He is the Caribbean’s only Certified Chamber Executive (CCE), a professional designation awarded by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives.

Mr. Pineau is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications. He holds an Organizational Management Certificate from Ivy School of Business in Toronto, Canada.

In 2010, he graduated as part of the inaugural class of Leadership Cayman and remains active in shaping the program.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Pineau address the graduating class. He has fostered a 20 year plus legacy of excellence, business acumen, and service to Cayman,” said Dr. David Marshall, ICCI President. “We are confident he will inspire our graduates to use their education for the noble purposes of building Cayman’s economy and providing community service to the people of this great nation,” said Marshall.

The commencement ceremony will celebrate approximately 43 graduates who will receive Master’s, Bachelor’s and Associate Degrees.

The Premier, The Hon., Alden McLaughlin, The Hon. Deputy Governor Franz Manderson, and Ministry of Education Councillor Winston Connolly will be presenting diplomas to the graduates. Mr. Connolly will be representing The Hon. Minister Tara Rivers who has a previous commitment.

Marlon Hunter, a candidate for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration earned the top GPA in the bachelor’s program. Meghan Boccaccio earned the highest GPA in the Master’s program. Antoinette Williams, a candidate for the Associate of Science in Business (Accounting Concentration), earned the highest GPA in the associate degree category.

The class speaker is Shamair Marstin who is a candidate for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting Concentration).

This year’s graduation exercise is exceptional as it comes during the academic year that ICCI had its international accreditation renewed. In September, the Washington, D.C. based Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools renewed the college’s status through 2018. The College has been continuously accredited for 36 years.

“Our accreditation review included an examination of the quality of the academic experiences students in this graduating class received during their studies at ICCI,” said Marshall. “This means the education this class received at ICCI, meets benchmarked academic standards that their peers from around the world received, who are also graduating from other accredited institutions this year. We are proud of that, and proud of this class,” said Marshall.

Founded in 1970, the International College of the Cayman Islands the Birthplace of Tertiary Education in the Cayman Islands. The College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award associates, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

The mission of the International College of the Cayman Islands is to prepare students for career placement and enhancement. The ICCI education instills attitudes, behaviors, sensitivities, skills and knowledge that are essential to life and learning.
