Last Call for Volunteers: Join the Earth Day Cleanup!

West Bay, Cayman Islands – April 16, 2025 – Its not too late to register for the
Chamber Earth Day, on 26 April from 7am to 10am and join more than two thousand
volunteers – Cayman’s biggest volunteer cleanup! This year’s theme, “Our Power, Our
Planet,” underscores the incredible impact we can achieve together to protect and
preserve our beautiful islands.Volunteers will remove trash from beaches, roadsides,
public parks, and gardens, ensuring that our islands remain stunning for residents and
visitors alike.

Why It Matters

“Keeping our islands clean and green is everyone’s responsibility,” says Chamber CEO
Wil Pineau. “We encourage all residents, schools, and volunteer community groups to
participate in this initiative, dedicating just a few hours to make a real difference in their
communities.”

stewardship, sustainable development, and the long-term resilience of our Islands.”

Ministry of Health:

“Earth Day serves as a global reminder that protecting our
environment is not bound by age, culture, or politics. From students picking up litter to
elders planting trees, and from volunteers cleaning coastlines to policymakers shaping
legislation, it is a day that unites us all in a common purpose of caring for our planet
and, by extension, ourselves,” said Ministry spokespersons Carolina Muniz Ferreira and
Mma-tshepo.

The Ministry’s commitment extends beyond Earth Day through year-round sustainability
initiatives and effective waste management practices. “Our efforts do not stop with a
single day of action. Through our internal Green Team, Ministry staff are encouraged to
learn about and participate in sustainability initiatives year-round. We also support
effective waste management by providing clearly marked recycling bins for plastic,
aluminium, and glass in our offices.”

Dr. Gelia Frederick van-Genderen, Water Authority-Cayman Director said: “The
Water Authority has participated in the Chamber’s Earth Day clean-up since 2007 and
has been a sponsor since 2009. This event allows us to give back to our community, and
it‘s an event that our staff look forward to every year. We all have a role to play to protect
our environment, and this initiative is one way to do that.”
