Cayman: Bush is reported to be standing down as Speaker of the LA

It is widely being reported that the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, McKeeva Bush, is expected to formally announce he is taking “a leave of absence” after the allegations of assault against him last weekend.

Bernie Bush, also from West Bay as Bush is, is the Deputy Speaker.

A “leave of absence” does not mean he has resigned, although that may be coming later.

Bush was at St. George’s Anglican Church last Sunday (just before he left for London on Monday) at a service for the Rector, Rev. Mary Graham’s retirement, and he presented her with a scroll in honour of all the community works she has done, in his capacity as Speaker of the House.

We will keep you informed as soon as we hear more.
