Cayman Airways to conduct emergency exercise on Little Cayman

Cayman Airways is advising the public, particularly residents in Little Cayman, that the airline will be conducting a full-scale emergency exercise at the Edward Bodden Airfield on Little Cayman on Tuesday April 25, 2017, from approximately 10:45am to 11:30am.
The exercise is a requirement of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) for Cayman Airways Express operations on Little Cayman, and will involve a Cayman Airways Express Twin Otter aircraft parked on the Edward Bodden airfield, along with approximately 10 volunteers as passengers, Cayman Airways staff and officials, and Little Cayman emergency services.
Cayman Airways says Tuesday’s exercise will test the effectiveness of its Aerodrome Emergency Plan (AEP) for Little Cayman, which is designed to minimize the possibility and extent of personal injury and property damage in an emergency. The exercise is also an opportunity for airline staff to test their local station emergency plan, practice the use of on-site equipment and emergency services, and to evaluate the coordination between agencies and government departments.
